Rotary District seeks members of team for Philippines
Rotary District 5190 has extended an application deadline for a professional group study exchange in the Philippines. The Philippines 2000 exchange is an educational program designed to provide business and professional people of good will a chance to meet, talk and experience another culture through its people. The exchange will occur March 3-Apr. 1, 2000.
Four people from the district, which includes Northern Nevada and the Northern California communities of Truckee and Grass Valley, will be selected to participate in the program. They will join other chosen professionals throughout the country for the four-week tour. Each participant will live with various Rotary families. As a team, the professionals abroad will visit Rotary clubs, businesses, industries, cultural and arts organizations, schools and other places of interest that help convey the social, economic and cultural aspects of the country. Upon some of these visits, group members will present a short talk about themselves, the work they do and the U.S.
Applicants must meet the following criteria to be considered for the program: 25-40 years of age, employment in a profession for at least three years and the approval of their current employer to participate. Those wanting to be a member of the team can not be a Rotary club member. The deadline to apply to the four-week exchange is Dec. 31. All flight and accommodation needs are met by Rotary International.
