Road work smooths out 395
Main Street’s northbound lanes between Toler Lane and Mill Street were a vast improvement over the southbound lanes after just two days of nightwork.
Work crews excavated 3 inches of pavement off the top of the highway in clearing up the significant potholes, according to the Nevada Department of Transportation.
More than 20,000 vehicles travel the highway every day.
Single lane closures are expected to continue through 6 a.m. today, but there might be delays requiring additional closures.
Freight trucks and oversize vehicles traveling Highway 395 in the area were detoured via Buckeye Road and Toler Lane.
The state plans a more extensive roadway repaving project in future years as funding becomes available.
Work near Ironwood Drive will result in the road closing between the Minden Medical Center and Monte Vista Drive 7 a.m. Sept. 16 through 5 p.m. Sept. 27.
The road will be closed 24 hours a day, according to Douglas County.
Sierra View Equipment will be conducting work there.
