Staff reports

On Monday, Oct. 4, a catered luncheon sponsored by the Republican Women’s Club will be held at the Governor’s Mansion in Carson City, at which time Joyce Neddenriep will be presented the group’s Entrepreneur Award for 1999.

Neddenriep is the founder of Joyce’s Jewelry and Antiques in Gardnerville. She has been in the Valley since 1930 and worked in her husband’s family business, Carson Valley Mercantile, selling toys, gifts and household items and doing displays. In 1977, she decided to open her own business.

Neddenriep belongs to the Minden Fortnightly Club, was past president of Douglas County Republican Women’s Club in 1966 and is a member of Carson Valley Community Church.

“Joyce loves people and has given many hours to philanthropic work in the community,” said Jean Tomlinson of the Republican Women’s Club.

Neddenriep has been married for nearly 50 years and and has two children and five grandchildren.

“She is an asset to the community and winning the honor is thrilling for her,” Tomlinson said.

Tomlinson and Jeanie Christiansen are co-chairpersons, heading up the Entrepreneur Award’s presentation this year.
