Republican Women to hold last meeting of the century

Staff reports

For the last meeting of the century, the Douglas County Republican Women will meet Wednesday, Dec. 1., at the Carson Valley Inn. This will be the club’s Christmas program and installation of new officers for the years 2000 and 2001. The second vice president of the National Federation of Republican Women, Heidi Smith, will do the honors at the installation.

The Christmas program will include entertainment by the Douglas High Madrigal Singers.

“This group is great, their costumes are wonderful and their music, under the direction of Music Director Bill Zabelsky, is enchanting. Please plan to be there for this very festive occasion,” said member Shaaron Snead. “We will be having a special Christmas raffle to which you may bring an unwrapped Christmas item, decoration or ornament, and join in the fun.”

Members should provide any non-perishable or canned goods for Caring for America (the club’s major community project) and the Carson Valley Community Food Closet and contributions of new school supplies for Project School Days (the groups second major project).

Membership applications will be available for next year. Regular membership is $20, associate is $10.

The meeting will be held downstairs in the banquet room at the inn. Social time will be at 11 a.m., with lunch beginning at noon.

The cost of the luncheon is $11.50 (note price change).

Call for reservations before Monday, Nov. 29, to 266-3435, 267-5066, 265-2769 or 265-1189.
