Republican dinner is Sunday at CV Inn

Guest speaker for the annual Lincoln Day Dinner sponsored by Douglas County Republican Central Committee will be Capt. David A. “Roy” Rogers of “Top Gun” Fallon Naval Air Station.

The dinner will be held on Sunday, Feb. 7, in the Shannon Ballroom at the Carson Valley Inn.

Tickets cost $30 each. The cocktail hour will begin at 6 p.m. with dinner beginning at 7 p.m.

Capt. Rogers was commissioned in the U.S. Navy as a Naval Flight Officer in 1976 and and for over 20 yeras has served in the U.S. Navy in various parts of the world.

He has accrued 5,100 flight hours and 1,020 carrier landings. He has been presented with five meritorious service medals, two air medals, three Navy commendation medals, two Navy achievement medals as well as numerous unit and service awards.

The annual Lincoln Day Dinner is one of the two major fund-raisers for the Douglas County Republican Central Committee. The money that is raised at this event will go to support Republican candidates and to further the Republican cause. The event is open to the public.

“We hope you will be able to join us for a great evening,” said co-chairs Robin Reedy and Patti McIntosh.

People who wish to attend should make reservations by Tuesday, Feb. 2, to ticket chairpersons Cathie Kite, 267-2626, or Betty Hegarty, 588-3341.

Other committee members are Fred Jones, Cherie Brooks, Linda Curtis, Brenda Robertson, Tim Edwardson and Beverly Willard.
