Reno Philharmonic Youth Orchestra to perform at PWLMS
The Reno Philharmonic Youth Orchestra, under the direction of Kevin Price, will make its third appearance in Carson Valley today.
The performance, sponsored by The Sierra Philharmonic League, Pau-Wa-Lu Music Boosters and Friends of the Carson Valley Youth Orchestra, is scheduled for 4 p.m. in the cafetorium at Paul-Wa-Lu Middle School. The program will feature music by Khatchaturian, Schreiner, Britten and Korsakov.
The orchestra, which is in its fifth season, is comprised of outstanding student musicians from the greater Reno area. The string section includes Carson Valley violinists Rose Barrett, Katie LaPoint and Andrew McIntosh and violist Anne Ristorcelli. Jennie English, a Jacks Valley resident, is the orchestra’s principal oboist. Barron Brooks and Mimi Debacco, violinists, represent Carson City.
A limited number of tickets will be available at the door. Single admission is $5 and family admission is $8. All proceeds from the sale of tickets will remain in the community to benefit local student music programs.
