At Minden Monday afternoon the business men of Gardnerville and Minden met at the latter town to discuss ways and means of offering assistance to stage contractors with a view of having the mail route between Minden and Bridgeport restored.

E. J. Seaborn, state bank examiner, according to information secured by the committee in charge of affairs of the closed Douglas County Farmers Bank, is negotiating for the sale of the bank property in Gardnerville, to Reno interests which is against the wishes of the committee, and will be strongly opposed, it was announced here yesterday afternoon.

Mine shafts, pools of water, unstable ladders, rotted timber, possible cave-ins, explosives or contaminated air are some of the hazards possible in abandoned mines. However, Douglas County has a good record for securing abandoned mines and an even better record for associated accidents. Only one person has been hurt at an abandoned mine since 1992.
