Recreation department sets pistol class
The Douglas County Parks and Recreation Department is sponsoring a National Rifle Association basic pistol class for adults. The class will start on Friday, April 11 from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Recreation Annex Building by Lampe Park in Gardnerville and conclude on Saturday, April 12 from 8 a.m. to noon, also at the Recreation Annex Building. Students will then go to the Carson City Range from 1 to 5 p.m.
This class is offered to assist those interested in how to handle and operate a handgun in a safe and responsible manner. The course will include training on gun parts and ammunition, safety, cleaning, storage, loading and unloading procedures and shooting fundamentals. Range shooting will conclude this course.
Students must bring their unloaded gun (two-gun maximum per permit) to class as well as at least 100 rounds of ammunition to fit your gun. This class will comply with the New Concealed Weapon Carry Permit Law of Nevada. Books and handouts are included in course fee.
The course fee is $65 and pre-registration is required as well as a $10 insurance fee is payable to the instructor. Students should take hearing and eye protection, cleaning kit, appropriate clothing and something to eat and drink.
The class is being taught by Wynn Simon an NRA certified instructor.
