Quilter at meeting

by staff

Dixie McBride, a nationally-known quilter and appliquer, will speak on “Garage Sale Heirlooms – A Quilt Collection” at the Carson Valley Quilt Guild meeting on Monday night, Sept. 28.

McBride is an avid collector of garage sale quilts with over 100 quilts in her collection. She has documented her wonderful “finds” from weekend excursions around the countryside in this entertaining, light-hearted slide and lecture presentation that shows 60 of the quilts. She also explains how she searched them out. McBride has gathered the stories that come with them, stories she says some may find “a bit sad, some humorous and some that will warm your heart.”

The Carson Valley Quilt Guild general meeting is held every fourth Monday of the month at Minden Elementary School off Buckeye Road. Social hour begins at 6:30 and the business meeting and program at 7 p.m.
