Quilt Guild to hear national teacher

Staff reports

The Carson Valley Quilt Guild will hold its monthly meeting on Monday, Sept. 25. The program for the evening will feature national quilting teacher, Gerry Kimmel-Carr. Kimmel-Carr hails from Liberty, Mo., and is a folk artist, quilt teacher and author.

In 1987, she founded Red Wagon and produced folk-art quilt patterns. In only a few years, she advanced from producing individual patterns to authoring books. To date, she has authored and coauthored over 20 books.

In addition to designing patterns, Kimmel-Carr also designs a line of hand-dyed homespun fabrics. In October 1999, she showcased her new line of prints and plaids which she designed for Benartex entitled “Peaceful Journey.” Check out her Web site at http://www.redwagonquilts.com.

The public is invited to attend the lecture, which will be held following the business meeting at 7 p.m. at the United Methodist Church in Gardnerville.
