PWLMS student is volunteer of year

Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary Topaz #3630 had an applicant for volunteer of the year.

The winner was Ryan O’Sullivan from Pau-Wa-Lu Middle School. He had to write a 150-word essay describing what he does as a volunteer.

Ryan is in the 8th grade and has done work for the Teen Volunteers from the Douglas County Parks and Recreation division and is a member of the national Junior Honor Society. He also has worked on a skatepark.

He won first place in the district and also first place in the state. Now his article goes to National for competition. He received a certificate and monies from Topaz Auxiliary #3630, District #3 and will receive money from the state. If he wins at National, he will receive a $1,000 scholarship.
