Power outage affects 1,600 at Lake Tahoe

Power was restored to Lake Tahoe residents at around 1 p.m. after being out for around three hours.

Nearly 1,600 NV Energy customers are without power at Lake Tahoe, according to the company’s web site.

Douglas County Sheriff’s deputies report the traffic light at Highway 50 and Elks Point is out.

The outage was reported at 10 a.m. Power company officials say that power could be restored by 12:45 p.m.

Kingsbury Grade and Highway 50 from just below Spooner Summit to the state line are requiring snow tires or chains.

Douglas deputies reported a wreck at the base of Kingsbury and Highway 50 at 10:22 a.m.

Snow is falling in the foothills around Carson Valley and above.

Heavy rain started falling around 9:50 a.m.
