Planning veggies? Save some for Food Closet

Staff reports

If you are planning your backyard vegetable garden please consider planting a bit extra to help feed the hungry. The extra harvest from your garden will be happily accepted by the Carson Valley Community Food Closet to assist the families of the working poor.

Onions, potatoes, squash, carrots, cucumbers, radishes, lettuce, tomatoes, green beans, corn, whatever you have we can help you share.

The need is not limited to vegetables, but includes any extra fruit or eggs. All fresh edible items are greatly appreciated.

The CVC Food Closet is a non profit organization operated solely by volunteers and founded in 1988, provides emergency food supplies year-round to families who qualify.

It is located at 1255 Waterloo Lane (across from Lampe Park) in the Hussman Building and is open Mon., Wed. and Fri. from 1-4 p.m. For more information call Diane Malone, director at 782-3711.
