PHES students make wishes for the world known

Staff reports

The students at Pinon Hills Elementary School made their wishes for the world known during a special holiday event at the school.

Mr. and Mrs. Bob Moore of Northern Nevada Nursery donated a live Christmas tree to the school. The students decorated the tree with paper doves, and on the doves, students wrote the changes they would like to see in the world, according to Jennifer Hedgecock, president of the student council.

The PHES student council sponsored the event for students in all grades, kindergarten through 6th, she said.

The tree will be planted at the school later. During the months of December and January, the tree with its doves is on display in the multi-purpose room. More doves were hung on the wall.

“We at the student council would like to take this opportunity to thank Mr. and Mrs. Moore for their generosity and kindness for their donation of a Christmas tree for our school,” Jennifer said. “Everyone at PHES appreciates their interest in helping us celebrate the holiday season.”

Advisors for the student council are teachers Kim Robinson and Unkyung Park.
