PHES gathers food for 1st grade food drive
The 1st grade class at the Pinon Hills Elementary School, assisted by the student council, will hold the fourth annual Food Drive the week of April 17-21. The goal is to receive a minimum of two items per student at the school, according to Catherine Pellegrino, 1st grade teacher.
The student council will kick off the event with a skit of encouragement at lunch time on April 14.
“If you don’t have a student in the school but would like to contribute, please feel free to drop off your donation at the school at 1479 Stephanie Way,” said Pellegrino. “All donations are appreciated by both the school and the Carson Valley Community Food Closet.”
On April 21, the 1st graders and student council members will count the items and the winning class, according to ratio, will be treated to a pizza party.
Parent volunteers will assist with the delivery of the food items to the Carson Valley Community Food Closet.
