Parents: Time to register your kids for kindergarten
Kindergarten pre-registration for the 2000-2001 school year will be on various dates at various Douglas County elementary schools.
n March 20-31:
C.C. Meneley Elementary, 1446 Muir Drive, Gardnerville.
Gardnerville Elementary, 111 Toler, Gardnerville.
Scarselli Elementary, 699 Long Valley Road, Gardnerville.
n April 3-14:
Jacks Valley Elementary, 701 Jacks Valley Road.
Minden Elementary, Minden.
Pinon Hills Elementary, Johnson Lane area.
Zephyr Cove Elementary, Warrior Way, Zephyr Cove.
Parents may complete registration materials at their neighborhood school. During registration, a time will be reserved for language development screening for the child who is being registered.
Nevada School Law says that a child must be 5 years old by Sept. 30 to attend kindergarten during the 2000-20001 school year.
At the time of registration, parents must provide birth certificate and complete and up-to-date immunization records signed by a doctor or nurse.
The Douglas County Public Health Nurse will have special kindergarten shot clinics for pre-registration on Mondays, March 6, 13, 20 and 27, 8:30 to 11 a.m. and 1 to 4 p.m. Call for an appointment.
A clinic will be held every Thursday 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. and 1 to 4 p.m.
The clinics will be held at the Douglas County Community Health Department, 1133 Spruce Street, Gardnerville; phone, 782-9038. There will be an $8 fee. If it is not affordable, the fee will be based on a sliding scale. Parents need to take their children’s shot records.
