We need help
November 3, 2011
The Douglas County Historical Society is having a problem with the roof at the Carson Valley Museum and Cultural Center.
The last big rain flooded our storage room downstairs and buckets of water came down next to our Basque exhibit.
We have had leaks in the past in the mercantile, doctor’s office and in our main gallery. We have been patching these as they happen, but it’s getting worse.
We have applied for grant money from Cultural Affairs Preservation Office, but they do not have funds available in their budget at this time.
The estimate for the roof is $35,500. We have $8,500 in our Capital Improvement Fund as we had to fix leaking pipes downstairs.

We are very concerned our exhibits are going to be damaged by these leaks.
We do not get any monies from the State of Nevada or Douglas County to run your two museums. We have to raise our entire budget ourselves. If there is any way you can help us out with this problem, we would appreciate it so much. If you’d like to help call 782-2555.
