TOPS open house Feb. 3
January 25, 2011
The Take Pounds Off Sensibly hosts an open house, 9 a.m. Feb. 3. at St. Gall Parish Hall, Corinthians room 146, Centerville Lane in Gardnerville. TOPS members will share the message of wellness education and weight-loss support at a time when people are making New Year’s resolutions for a healthier lifestyle. Visitors are welcome to attend the first TOPS meeting free of charge.
Marcia Kaster joined in 2008 because she was finally ready to take control of her health.
“I tried fad diets that never worked,” Kaster said. “TOPS was different because right away I experienced the caring support.
“With the encouragement provided by my chapter, I changed the way I thought about food, started exercising and am working to achieve my goal.”
Kaster lost 33 pounds by following the example of successful TOPS members in the KOPS, or Keep Off Pounds Sensibly chapter, a designation for members who achieve their goal weight. She said weight-loss is an ongoing journey.
