Tickets available for fall fundraiser

Staff Reports

Grace Christian Academy in Minden is holding its 7th annual fall fundraiser 7 to 9 p.m. Oct. 21 at the Brewery Arts Center in Carson City. The concert theme is Reading, Writing & Rhythm.

The night features jazz from Lucky Diamond and The Gents of Jive – local jazz musicians and regular performers around the region. The night will also include GCA students performing a few songs with the band, dessert and a raffle with items including family nights out, spa treatments, coffees and chocolates, golf, tools, and student class baskets.

Lucky Diamond and The Gents of Jive has been performing since the grand opening of the Silver Legacy Resort Casino in 1995. Hired by Circus Circus, initially for three days, the act stayed for 18 months. Since then, they have appeared for private parties and corporate events in the Reno-Tahoe area, including New Year’s and Valentine’s dances at Sharkey’s and the Cadillac Ball in Truckee. The Gents are Dan Lancaster, sax, clarinet, and flute; John Djikstra, trumpet and flugelhorn; Jimmy Vermillion, keyboard; Gary Douglas, guitar; and Mark Ashworth, also known as Lucky Diamond, drums.

This year especially, many families are faced with financial concerns, but still want their children to attend Grace Christian Academy. Monies raised at this event will support ongoing efforts of the school and help with tuition assistance for families who otherwise could not attend.

Tickets available at http://www.breweryarts.org for $20 each.
