Thanks for supporting Chamber Gala

On behalf of the Carson Valley Chamber of Commerce, I want to thank the many people and organizations who made last week's Community Recognition Awards Gala so memorable. We will start with our full partner for the event, the Record Courier and Associate Publisher Tara Addeo, who helped at every step of the process. Our event sponsors; Carson Valley Medical Center, Douglas County, Baker Hughes-a GE Company, Minden Tahoe Airport, Bing Materials, Nevada State Bank, Carson Valley Accounting, Carson Valley Inn & Sharkey's, City National Bank, Bently Enterprises and Dr. James the Dentist provide the support that makes the dinner possible.

Our Ambassador team steps up to transform the Valley Ballroom (and they did a particularly good job of that this year). Gary Dove, Ted Thran, Kathi Rittenhouse, Deb Posnien and Carrie Nicolaisen, assisted by Patti Hopkins and Eric Rittenhouse, did the work of stringing lights, covering chairs, moving barrels (you had to be there) and creating the stage design and then doing it all in reverse when we were done. Providing them with expertise and the materials to work with were Rich and Angelina Ellis at Elevated Events and Lori Britton at A Wildflower. Our awesomely wild equine party favors were designed and made by Lynn Falcone at the Chocolate Shoppe by Sweet Images.

Eddie Dimock's music made the cocktail hour fly by and two photographers helped capture the event; John Humphrey getting us great images of the winners receiving their awards and Belinda Grant captured room photos, table shots and gave our attendees a chance to get a more formal portrait taken when they arrived. Lyndsey Chichester and Malinda Humphrey thought they were just going to dinner but got pressed into maitre'd service to help people find their seats. Banquet Captain Jake Lopes and the team at CVI did their usual excellent job of taking care of our guests.

We had the rare privilege of thanking two esteemed public servants at this year's event and we appreciate Judge Tom Perkins and Sheriff Ron Pierini for allowing us to do so. Their presenters, Judge Richard Glasson and Bill Henderson, did terrific work in expressing our admiration and thanks.

No recognition awards would be possible without the honorees and we congratulate again the Carson Valley Lions Club, the Service Club of the Year; CASA of Douglas County, the Non-Profit Organization of the Year; Deputy Teresa Duffy, the Employee of the Year; Dr. Somer Lyons and Valley Eyecare and Eyewear Gallery, the Business of the Year; Gary Dove of Kiwanis, Project Santa Claus, the Aktion Club and even more, the Volunteer of the Year and Nadia Sandoval of East Side Memorial Park and the Vietnam Moving Wall, our Citizen of the Year.

Finally, our thanks to all of the supporters of those people and organizations who took the time to join us, enjoy good company, food and drink, a few laughs and a lot of admiration and affection for the honorees.

This event reminds us of the extraordinary people in our community and we feel fortunate to put the spotlight on those people each year. We're already thinking of ways to make it even better next year when we will do it all again on Nov. 2, 2019.
