Slavins celebrate 50 years

Gardnerville residents Dennis and Kathleen Slavin celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary Sept. 30 in Pasadena, Calif., surrounded by friends and family from all over the country.
The couple met at the LA County Department of Public Works where they both worked.
They married Sept. 30, 1961, and had three children, Wendy, Dennis Jr., and Christin.
They raised their children in Pasadena, Calif., before retiring to Lake Tahoe and then Gardnerville.
They have always been active with the church and currently attend St. Gall where Kathy is a member of the Women’s Society and Dennis volunteers.
They have six grandchildren; Sarah, 25, Robin, 23, Eric,13, Jane, 11, Ace, 3, and Axl, 3 months.

“Denny and Kathy are adored by their children and grandchildren who feel so blessed to have the continued guidance and love of their parents and grandparents,” Wendy said.
Before retiring, Kathy worked at the Los Angeles County Department of Public Works, and then as an office manager for a law firms in Pasadena, Calif.,
Denny was a civil engineer for Los Angeles County Department of Public Works in road design and bridges.
