Obituary: Leslie Hugh Knott

Leslie Hugh Knott, II, 60, passed away Dec. 8, 2003, in Reno.
He was born Dec. 2, 1943, in Marion, Ohio to John Leslie Knott and Esther Schorr Knott of Massillon, Ohio.
Knott was a football and wrestling champ in high school in Kirkwood, Mo. He attended Missouri Valley College in Marshall, Mo. and earned his degree in biology in 1966.
Knott served in the U.S. Army in Vietnam and was awarded the Bronze Star. Before his death, he was arranging a reunion in Reno for members of his combat unit across the nation to take place in January.
Knott moved to Reno in 1970. In 1976, he was one of Reno’s finest State Farm insurance agents, earning the company’s highest honor of the Bronze Tablet.
He was planning his retirement later this month.

He was a former board member for the Reno March of Dimes and a Pop Warner football coach in Carson City. He was a 32nd degree Mason, a Shriner and member of the Royal Order of Jesters.
Knott was known for his amazing humor and jolly spirit and becoming a clown for the Shriners was natural.
He is survived by daughter Andrea of Corona del Mar, Calif.; sons Gregory and John of Reno; sister Rebecca Deuben of Marietta, Ga., and fiancee Sharon Grecian of Gardnerville.
Services will be held Friday, Dec. 12 at 2 p.m. at the Masonic Memorial Gardens Chapel in Reno.
