I recently read the article concerning Starbucks in the Sept. 21 issue of Carson Valley View. Apparently, Mr. Bernie Curtis, Douglas County Commission chairman, thinks that everyone who opposes the Starbucks facility is a “wacko.” Whatever happened to the American way – citizens expressing their views and legitimate concerns, without being called names by elected government officials? Mr. Curtis, surely, calling your constituents derogatory names in not part of your job description.
All complaints and concerns are certainly not moot at this point; our government officials need to be held accountable for their decisions.
Starbucks may be coming here; however, I wonder if they would be if all of the facts would have been disclosed in a timely and proper manner.
