Spaghetti fundraiser Saturday
Carson Valley United Methodist Church hosts a fundraising dinner, 6 p.m. Saturday, in the fellowship hall, 1375 Centerville Lane, Gardnerville. On the menu is spaghetti, tossed salad, garlic bread and beverages. Cost is $5 per person and a maximum of $20 for families. Information, 782-4600. Proceeds from the dinner support the “Crossing the Divide” concert and forum on cultural reconciliation presented by jazz vocalist Connye Florance and pianist Kevin Madill at the church on March 27. Elks serve breakfast
The Tahoe-Douglas Elks Lodge No. 2670 monthly pancake breakfast is 8:30-11 a.m. Sunday, at the lodge, 1226 Pit Road, Gardnerville Ranchos. Menu includes pancakes, eggs/omelets, sausage, juice and coffee, $6 for adults and $3.50 for children. Information, 265-4523.
GED and English classes offered at WNC
Western Nevada College offers free ongoing GED preparation classes, 6-8:30 p.m. Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays in room 48, building C of Carson Valley Middle School. Free English language learning classes are offered at the Douglas campus of WNC. Registration is 9 a.m. Monday and Wednesday in room 123. Information, (775) 445-4451.

Senior health fair open to community
The Douglas County Senior Center’s 12th annual Senior Health Fair is 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Valley Ballroom at the Carson Valley Inn, Minden. Free admission. Booths on vision, hearing, Medicare counseling, Alzheimer’s support, residential and home care, area hospitals, TRIAD, and Young at Heart Senior Citizen’s Club. Carson Valley Medical Center offers wellness panels, glucose screening and other blood screenings for fees payable by cash or check at the time of the draw.
