Eagles and agriculture

Staff Reports

The ninth annual Eagles and Agriculture event is Feb. 25-27. The interaction between nature and agriculture attracts photographers, birders and nature-lovers who come to observe bald and golden eagles, hawks, falcons, owls, and other birds and wildlife.

Almost 4,000 people attended last year’s Eagles & Ag event. This year’s programs include a reception and dinner, private ranch and eagle tour by passenger van, Carson River tour, an owl prowl event and a two-day photography workshop.

Carson Valley veterinarian Randy Wallstrum will speak at the Feb. 25 dinner about his encounter with wolverines in Alaska. Keynote addresses will also be offered by Sen. James Settelmeyer and Assemblyman Kelly Kite, and falconer Lew Sauter will be on hand.

Eagles & Ag is presented by the Carson Valley agricultural and ranching community, Carson Valley Visitors Authority, Lahontan Audubon Society, the Nature Conservancy, Western Nevada Resource Conservation & Development Office, University of Nevada Cooperative Extension.

The tours and workshops demonstrate how agricultural stewardship benefits wildlife and their habitat in Nevada. Proceeds benefit local wildlife, conservation and agriculture projects. Tours and events are staged at or hosted by the Carson Valley Inn on Highway 395 in Minden. Early registration is encouraged to sign up soon as space is limited for all Eagles and Agriculture events.
