Aug. 27 Outing. The Eldorado partnered with the producers of the Broadway hit "The Illusionists" to bring a once-in-a-lifetime experience with a 360-degree, all-encompassing, and cutting-edge production to Reno. The show opens with new, daring performances by acrobats from around the world demonstrating balance, contortion, stamina and aerial artistry. The trip includes a buffet lunch before the 2 p.m. show. "Take me out to the ballgame." See the Reno Aces' baseball game of the season on Sept. 4. The game starts at 1:05 p.m. The group departs from the Douglas County Senior & Community Center at 11:30 a.m. and returns no later than 5 p.m. Lunch is on your own at the ballpark). Annual Trunk, Crafts, and Yard Art Sale
Sept. 9, from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. is a Young at Heat's (the Senior Citizens Club) fundraising event. Here is a real win-win opportunity. You lighten your load by bringing gently used items to sell as well as your own artistic creations. Handcrafts, paintings, crochet and knitted articles–whatever you do to let your right-brain express. This event is in the parking lot of the Center at 1329 Waterloo Lane, Gardnerville. Douglas County residents pay only $25 for two parking spaces car/truck, bring a table for your merchandise and $35 for non-residents. Cutoff date to reserve a spot is Sept. 7. You keep the money from the sale of your items—all space rental fees go to the Center's hot lunch program for seniors. Donuts, coffee and hot dogs will be available at the sale for a minimal charge.

Sept. 21. Learn how to paint in a fun environment. Instructors offer step-by-step direction and all the tools needed. People with all levels of painting skill (or none) are welcomed. You will leave with your newly created masterpiece. Drinks and lunch are served at the studio. (Tip: participants tell us that wine tends to improve one's painting ability.) The cost of the trip is $35 and must be paid by Sept. 15. The group departs the Douglas County Community & Senior Center at 9 a.m.
