Community trees decorate Carson Valley museum

Record Courier Staff Reports

Community trees decorate Carson Valley Museum & Cultural Center in Gardnerville from Sunday through December 30 for the seventh annual Holiday Gala.

The Holiday Gala is a fund-raiser for Douglas County Historical Society and its two museums.

For the third year, the event includes a Cookie Walk with a wide variety of homemade beautifully decorated cookies and ethnic-style cookies typical of the holiday season.

The sale starts at 10 a.m. with each person selecting the kinds and numbers of cookies to fill a specially decorated container at a set price. In the past the cookies were sold out within a couple of hours. The committee in charge of this event welcomes groups or individuals interested in making and donating fancy, decorated cookies for the sale. Contact Lois Thran at 265-6653 to contribute or assist with the Holiday Gala.

New this year will be fresh greens made into wreaths, swags and “kissing balls.” The Christmas Tea in the afternoon is also a new addition. Musical entertainment adds to the festive atmosphere.
