Carson Valley Pops performs at St. Gall Saturday evening

The Carson Valley Pops Orchestra, under the direction of Danny Yale, will take the audience on a musical journey to Latin America, Vienna, Paris and New York with a free concert “From Tales of Vienna to Tango Argentino” on Saturday at 7 p.m. at the St. Gall Pastoral Center, next to St. Gall Catholic Church, 1343 Centerville Lane in Gardnerville. This concert offers “unlimited” seating to provide room for the entire family.
Selections will include “Tales From The Vienna Woods” by Strauss; “El Choclo” (“Tango Argentino”); “El Cumbanchero”; “NYC – Here’s To The Big Apple”; “Broadway Tonight!”; “An American in Paris Suite” by George Gershwin; “Variations on a Mozart Theme”; Gilbert and Sullivan excerpts from “HMS Pinafore”, “The Mikado” and “Pirates of Penzance”; “Bacchanale” from Samson and Delilah; and excerpts from The New World Symphony. Orchestra member and first violinist, Michael Lesmes will perform the first and last movements of the “Bruch Violin Concerto” in G minor, and Aaron Pellegrini will perform the Mozart “Horn Concerto.” Both soloists are longtime members of the orchestra.
The orchestra will also conduct a raffle which includes a lap quilt made and donated by orchestra member, Paula Crout; three pieces of art donated by the artist, Ann Key, and a $100 gift certificate toward expert carpet, upholstery or tile and grout cleaning by the owner of “A Better Carpet Cleaner” (who is also a member of the orchestra). Light refreshments will be available for purchase.

Remaining concerts this year are: July 2 at Minden Park as part of the Town of Minden’s Centennial Celebration; Oct. 21 and Dec. 9 at the CVIC Hall in Minden.
