Car seat safety Wednesday
September 9, 2004
The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office is hosting three upcoming child safety seat checks. Most major manufacturers have models that are on a 14-page list of recalls, which volunteers look for at the checks. The child safety seat checks are free, and a donation is asked for if volunteers replace a car seat.
The first child safety seat check is scheduled from 8 a.m. to noon, Wednesday, Sept. 15 at the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office on Buckeye Road in Minden. The check is the same day at the Douglas County Health Fair.
The next child safety seat check is scheduled from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 2, at South Lake Tahoe Middle School on Highway 50. The Fire Fest will be the same day and booths will be set up nearby.
The third child safety seat check is from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 9 at Lampe Park on Waterloo Lane in Gardnerville. The sheriff’s office reminds parents that children age 6 and younger or weighing under 60 pounds must be strapped in a child safety seat. Police can pull drivers over for not having children strapped in.
