Another year on Main Street
January 5, 2012
As another year comes to a close, on behalf of the Main Street Gardnerville Board of Directors, I would like to thank all of our volunteers who donated their time and expertise throughout this past year to help revitalize our downtown district. We are deeply moved by your commitment to help build a better community.
Main Street Gardnerville is a community based self-help program involving various members of the community with the shared vision of revitalizing the downtown. Even though we focus on the downtown district, it benefits the entire community. Main Street Gardnerville uses four main points to accomplish this: Organization, promotion, design and economic restructuring. The National Organization has been around over 30 years, in over 40 states and in several thousand communities. We have the only Main Street program in Nevada at this time, and our success is due to the support and volunteer efforts of the residential and business community.
I met a man who recently moved with his wife to Gardnerville. They visited our area for the first time last summer. When they saw the beautiful flower baskets and quaint shops, it immediately felt like home. The efforts of our volunteers make downtown Gardnerville a great place to be – whether it’s to live, work, shop or visit.
Our volunteers work long hours on many projects ranging from social events to flower baskets and planning a community garden, from organizing a revolving loan program to marketing research and property development, and so much more.
A special thank you to our sponsors, businesses and community members that have taken part in our many events and projects throughout 2011. And, once again to our volunteers, Main Street Gardnerville thanks you for your efforts and contribution of time.
