Angel trees in the Valley for 15th year

Project Santa Claus, a totally volunteer organization now in it’s 15th year of lending a hand to Douglas County children in need, is gearing up for the holidays. Angel Trees will soon be appearing in Douglas County where you can pick an Angel and sponsor a child for Christmas. The wrapped gift should be returned to the Angel Tree location by Dec. 16th. The gifts will be distributed to the families a few days before Christmas by a dedicated team of Project Santa Claus volunteers. In 2002, 649 children ages 1 through 15 from 289 families were given a wonderful Christmas due to the generosity of our community.
Angel Trees will be located in Minden at Taylor-York Salon, 1625 Highway 395 and in Gardnerville at Wells Fargo Bank, 1542 Highway 395; Carson Valley Pharmacy, 1532 Highway 395; Raley’s Supermarket, 1363 Hwy 395; R & T Cleaners, 1389 Lampe Dr.; Crystal Kaleidoscope, 1333 Highway 395; Scolari’s Supermarket, 1335 Highway 395; C. V. Medical Center, 1107 Highway 395 and Topaz Lodge, 1979 Highway 395.
The umbrella of Project Santa Claus includes children of Carson Valley Community Food Closet families who are approved by Douglas County and Washoe Tribal Social Service Departments, children of Family Support Council families who are approved by their case workers, children in the CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate) program of Douglas County approved by their caseworkers and with assistance from the Douglas County Sheriff’s Department. Project Santa Claus is not affiliated with Toys for Tots.
