At approximately 11:20 a.m., today, a shooting occurred at Carson Tahoe Regional Medical Center on the third floor. One patient has been injured and is being transferred to Renown for treatment. No additional injuries to patients or staff have been reported.

According to Sheriff Ken Furlong, Dresser is in custody and the Regional Medical center has been secured. As an additional safety precaution, Carson Tahoe Health is currently discouraging noncritical patient visits until further notice.

As of 1:45 p.m. , Carson Tahoe Health Regional Medical Center was cleared of all security threats resulting from an earlier shooting. The shooting was a targeted situation.

“We are grateful to our first responders and on-site staff who acted quickly and efficiently during this tragic event,” hospital officials said. “At this time, there is no new information concerning the status of the shooting victim who was transferred to Renown.”

The shooting suspect remains in custody. The regional medical center is no longer on lock down.
