Obituary: Marjorie Olga Duncan

Marjorie Olga Duncan, 94, of Minden, Nev. passed away Oct. 26, 2012 at her home with her sons by her bedside.

She was born in Blair, Neb. to Mads Hansen and Olga Rasmussen Hansen and was the youngest of four children, two brothers and two sisters. Her mother passed away a year after she was born. She was raised by I.M. Hansen in Harlan, Iowa and lived there until she married Howard McKeig and moved to Pasadena. Among her many professions, she worked for Lockheed, Disney, but her favorite profession was ballroom instructor for Arthur Murray. She was also an accomplished artist.

She had two sons with Howard, Michael and Jonathan. After Howard and Marjorie divorced she married George Duncan and lived in Chatsworth, Calif. “Dunc” worked for Lockheed Aircraft in the “skunk works” as an engineer. They retired to Minden, Nev. in 1983 where Marjorie was involved with La Sertoma, Angels and various other charities. She was a lover of animals and throughout her life had several pets.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Duncan of Minden; sister, Sharlan Bailey of Columbus, Neb.; brother, Leon Hansen of Dallas, Oregon; brothers, Lake and John Hansen.

Survivors include her sons, Michael McKeig of Ookala, Hawaii and Jonathan McKeig of Minden, Nev. who was her primary caregiver the last few years of her life; stepdaughter, Barbara Smith of Keahou, Hawaii; grandchildren, Dale McKeig of Encinitas, Calif., Shannon Purpuri of Santa Cruz, Calif., Jonathan McKeig of The Woodlands, Texas; great grandchildren, Ben, Natalie and Rex McKeig, Ravi Purpuri, Sean McKeig, Megan McKeig; and a great great grandchild born recently named Lyra.
