Obituary: Lora Dean Giovacchini

After a long battle with COPD and emphysema, Dean passed away at her home in Carson City on January 10, 2012. Dean was 82 years young.

She was born in Herculaneum, Missouri on August 27, 1929 to her father, Leo J. Williams and mother, Alice Lester Williams as the last of four children. She was a farm girl raised in the rural community of Farmington, Doe Run, and Ironton, Missouri attending school and graduating in 1947.

Dean was preceded in death by her partner of 22 years Bill Nunn; her older brother, Jesse Williams, and her mother and father. She is survived by sisters, Thelma Moore and Pauline Wigger both of Farmington, Missouri; her loving son, Jay Giovacchini of Carson City, and her daughter Debbie Rosse of Smith Valley; three granddaughters Brandy and Tara Rosse of Reno, and Katie Giovacchini of Phoenix, Arizona; great grand son Bryson Roberts of Reno; and numerous, beloved, nieces, nephews, and cousins across the country.

Upon graduation from high school, Dean married Herbert Henrich and moved to Yerington, Nevada to work at the copper mine. After Herb’s death, Dean married John Giovacchini of Smith Valley in 1956. They had two children, Debbie and Jay. When that marriage ended in 1988, Dean met the love of her life, Bill Nunn of Topaz Lake, and they spent the next 22 years together until his death in 2010. Dean worked at being a mother, grandmother, great grandmother, grocer, and business woman.

Dean, or Mimi as she was known to her family, will be deeply missed by all.

Following Dean’s wishes there will not be a Memorial Service, but plans are being made for a Remembrance gathering in the late spring or early summer.
