Obituary: LaVerne Dorothea Robinson
LaVerne Dorothea Robinson was taken to her heavenly home on February 19, 2012, on her mother’s birthday. She was born on August 25, 1924 in Shelby, South Dakota to Albert and Minnie Lipelt Fiedler and was born the eldest of six children.
LaVerne spent her first 12 years, nine months on the farm her parents owned. Because of the depression, coupled with devastating dust bowl conditions, the family moved to Woodland, California in May, 1937.
In June, 1960, LaVerne moved to Carson City and after six months was eligible to apply for a position in the Nevada State Government. She was employed by the department of education from 1961 until she retired in June of 1985, following her marriage to Gene Robinson on February 16, 1985. Gene passed away on February 26, 1998.
LaVerne is survived by her daughter, Donna, of Porterville, CA; son, Terril (Terry) Morris and wife Emily, of Minden, NV; sister and brother-in-law, Raymond and Kathleen Dowell of Woodland, CA, Darrel and Judy of Woodland, CA; sister-in-law Arleen of Spokane, WA; and aunt Mable Lipelt of Woodland, CA. She had 9 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. She was also survived by stepdaughter, Betsy Biggs; and stepsons, Jon Robinson and Jean Heim. She was preceded in death by her father and mother; brothers, Duane and Raymond Fielder; sister Elaine Darnell; daughter, Rebecca Tapia; and husbands, Robert Morris, Warren Fowler and Gene Robinson.
LaVerne was devoted to Christ and her church, Trinity Lutheran. A memorial service will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church in Gardnerville at 11am on March 3, 2012. Those who wish to make a donation in LaVerne’s memory may contribute to Trinity’s memorial fund or to a charity of their choice.
