Obituary: John Nathan Rodgers
John Nathan Rodgers, 94, of Gardnerville passed away January 24, 2012. Born May 19, 1917 to Joseph and Marsha Rodgers in Fullerton, CA. John attended the Nevada School of Mines, was an Air Force Officer and Pilot, a small business owner, an executive officer of Ferro Corp., a 60-year Masonic lodge member, an active member of Carson Valley United Methodist Church, Jazz Organization President and an active industry group participant. He enjoyed fishing, travel, jazz, golf, investing and playing the harmonica. He spent his early years working with his father mining and drilling water wells throughout the Sierra regions in California and Nevada. He loved spending time at the family cabin, built by his dad, in the Sierra Mountains near Bishop, CA.
John was preceded in death by his first wife, Vivian Terry Rodgers and brother, Joseph Ward Rodgers (Elaine). He is survived by his current wife, Wanda M. Rodgers; brother, Marion O. “Babe” Rodgers (Dorothy); daughter, Linda R. Kozak (Bruce); son, Wayne J. Rodgers; grandchildren, Jeffrey A. and Kenneth J. Kozak (Cindy); and great grandson, Jacob A. Kozak.
John Nathan Rodgers’ memorial service will be held at a date to be determined.
