Obituary: Duane Earl Skidmore
DUANE EARL SKIDMORE passed away peacefully in his sleep January 13, 2012. He was born April 13, 1924 in Montrose, Colorado to Rowena Mae and William F. Skidmore. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, a brother: Delbert, and Sons David and Bryan Skidmore. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Donna, 2 sisters: Ann Frazier and Linda Krepela, and 2 brothers: Dean and Bill Skidmore. He is also survived by children Debbie, and Harold Votipka, Brent and Vickie Skidmore, and Dr. Sheri Skidmore, and grandchildren Christopher, Steven, Leah, and Michael Skidmore, Ariel Votipka and “Kenya’ and “Taz” Skidmore.
Duane moved to Carson City in 1952. He raised his children here and retired from the State of Nevada in 1978, at which time he moved to Brookings Oregon, and worked 11 years as a camp host in different State and Federal parks in Southern Oregon. In October 2011 he moved back to to Carson City. he loved fishing , camping, and woodworking. He enjoyed traveling, but never stayed anywhere very long.
A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday January 21, 2012 at the LDS Church on McKay Drive in Carson City, NV. Our sincere thanks and appreciation to the staff and nurses at Evergreen Center who were so kind in his final days.
