Obituary: Duane E Williams

Duane E. Williams died Monday, November 7, 2011. The son of George and Ellen Williams, natives of California, he was born September 27, 1922 in Seattle, Washington, and raised and educated in California. He was a World War II Army Air Corps veteran (Radio operator- B-17). An attorney admitted to practice law in California and Illinois, having graduated from the University of California Hastings College of Law, he retired as a Vice President – Government Relations for Washington National Insurance Company, Evanston, Illinois, in 1984. During his career with Washington National he also represented the life and health insurance industry during Illinois legislative sessions. He was an active member of the Illinois Chamber of Commerce and served as Chairman of the Government Relations Committee of the Evanston Chamber of Commerce. He was preceded in death by his sister, Eleanor Morgan; and brother, Calvin Williams and by a son, Stephen Mark Williams. He is survived by his wife, Marjorie, of Gardnerville, Nevada; and son, Christopher Williams of San Rafael, California. No funeral will be held in accordance with his request.
