William Parnel Bowersock

Bill Bowersock was born to Ruth and Herb Bowersock Sr. of Ridley Park PA, the third son of five siblings. He was the President-Class of 1957 of West Chester High School, and graduated from Villanova University.
Bill served in the Army as a First Lieutenant, stationed at Schofield Barracks in Hawaii from 1962-65. He then worked for Prudential Group Insurance, primarily in Pensions and later Public Funds, at company headquarters in Newark, then San Francisco and later Genoa, from 1965 to 2000. He served on the Board of Directors of California Public Employees' Retirement System/CalPERS, the Board of California State Teachers' Retirement System/CalSTRS, and the State Association of County Retirement Systems/SACRS.
Bill believed it was important to support the communities in which he lived. He was a member of Rotary International in San Francisco and later Minden NV. He served on the Vestry of St. Paul's Episcopal Church in San Rafael CA. Bill served as a Board Member of Hospice by the Bay from 1985 to 2000 in Larkspur CA, and advised the Investment Committee of the Marin Community Foundation from 1997 to 2007. In Genoa NV, he served as the Chair of the Greater Genoa Business Association, and as President of the Friends of "Snowshoe" Thompson Historical Committee.
Bill and Lynne either planned, supported, assisted or applauded for almost every event in their "forever hometown" of Genoa, from Cowboy Poetry to the 4th of July Parade to their celebrated Candy Dance.
He is preceded in death by his older brother Herb Bowersock Jr, and his younger sister, Mary Jane Bowersock.
Bill is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Lynne Detweiler Bowersock of Genoa NV. He is also loved and missed by his son, Bill Bowersock Jr. of San Francisco; his daughter, Bryn Bowersock; and grandsons Nicholas Prieston and Alex Prieston of Philadelphia. He is survived by his brother Paul Bowersock of Sea Cliff NY; and his sister Ruth Benedict of East Norrington PA; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A Celebration of Life event will be held in Genoa later this year.
