On May 15, 2015 in Reno, NV, Janet Asmann, a Gardnerville resident, passed away. She was 71. Her husband and daughter were by her side as she passed peacefully. Born in Waukegan, Illinois to Jacob and Stella Severin, Janet grew up in Livermore, California. She was the oldest of 5 siblings. She graduated from Livermore High School and then later went on to earn her associates degree from Ohlone College, in Fremont, CA in 1979 where she graduated with honors. She worked at Lockhead Martin as a computer programmer until she retired in 1999. Janet built and lived in her dream home with her husband, Fred, in Gardnerville, NV in 1999. She was very active in her community and participated in numerous volunteer activities. She was active in her Sertoma Club, republican Women's clubs, Sheriff Dept., American Cancer Society, and Footprinters chapter 72. Janet loved to travel, especially cruising. Her and her husband have visited 58 countries, taken multiple cruises, zip-lined, went up in a hot air balloon, climbed the highest mountain in Gardnerville. She lived life to the fullest and accomplished all items on her bucket list. Janet was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Jim Severin; first husband, Joseph Crume. She was survived by her husband of 31 years, Fred Asmann. Four children and their families, Son Michael Crume and daughter in law, Lori, of Spokane, WA; daughter Sharron Smith and son-in-law Allan, of Elk Grove, CA; step-son Steve Asmann and his wife, Janis, of Brentwood, CA; step-daughter Cathy Gotschall and her husband John, of Manteca, CA; 12 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren; 3 siblings; and otherfamily members. Memorial arrangements will be held at 10:00am, June 6th, at St. Gall Catholic Church in Gardnerville.
