New employees begin at Douglas Cooperative Extension
University of Nevada Cooperative Extension has hired two new employees for the Douglas County office.
Karen Brumhall is the new youth development coordinator. She grew up in Carson City and earned her bachelor’s degree in education and geography.
She has been a teacher for kindergarten through adult education and university level programs in several states. She also has 12 years’ experience in volunteer management with a nationwide literacy program.
Brumhall returned to this area recently and says she is “glad to be back in the in this beautiful valley in the shadow of the Sierra.” She is excited to be working with the youth programs at Cooperative Extension.
Kari Joyner has been hired as the new part-time senior office assistant and works afternoons in the Douglas County office. She was previously a cook at the senior center. Joyner moved here in 1989 from southern California. She has two children and feels blessed to be working only part-time, allowing her to spend more time with her family.
