Mulligan Stew tourney coming up
Sunday, July 9, is the day all golfers registered for the Carson Valley Men’s and Women’s Golf Club’s first “Mulligan Stew” Golf Tournament are anxiously awaiting.
Tee time will be at 8:30 a.m. with a four-person scramble, blind draw, shotgun start. Each player will receive two Mulligans for a donation of 5 pounds of non-perishable food to be donated to the Carson Valley Community Food Closet. There is a limit of two Mulligans per player, but there is no limit on the amount of food donations. The food closet van will be at the course to accept the donated food.
Lunch (included in the fee) will be served at the Carson Valley Country Club. Non-players may participate in the lunch for a donation of $8.
A monetary prize will be given to the man and woman closest to the pin on each par 3. A variety of articles of golf equipment and numerous gift certificates toward meals from various restaurants are among the many donated prizes for this event, according to Ernie Y’Barbo.
Food is provided year-round by the CVC Food Closet, a non-profit organization manned solely by volunteers to families who qualify through Douglas County Social Services. The participation of all in this event is deeply appreciated by the food closet, their recipients and the host club.
