Mountain Music set for Villa Gigli Sunday

Staff reports

On Sunday, Aug. 1, from 3 to 5 p.m., Ruggero and Gina Gigli, proprietors of Villa Gigli Trattoria in Markleeville, will present the monthly Mountain Music event, this time featuring guitar and vocals by Larry Nair and cibachrome photographs of the Sierra region by Vivica Bell.

Nair performs regularly at venues from Truckee to Carson City to Hope Valley and Woodfords, with folk, rock, reggae and blues included in his repertoire.

Bell, a native of Lake Tahoe, has been trained in fine art with an emphasis in environmental design. Through her fine art photography, Bell aspires to broaden awareness of the magical beauty of nature and the connectedness of all life.

Two tastes of mellow old cabernet sauvignon, vintages 1982 and 1985 from Pedroncelli Winery, will be poured, and rosemary focaccia will be served for $3.

Though the wine will be served inside the restaurant, guests may choose to sit outside to enjoy the Alpine scenery or inside to appreciate Bell’s dramatic color photographs hung on the walls, listening to the original music of Nair in and out.

Villa Gigli is located at 145 Hot Springs Road in the California mountain town of Markleeville. For further information, call (530) 694-2253.
