Mono opens Web site
The Mono County Health Department opened an internet Web site at http://www.monohealth.org. The Web site is one of the first local health department sites to be developed in California, and the first for a small county. It contains lots of information about the department and its services.
In addition, there are schedules of activities and articles of timely importance regarding public health issues. From the Web site there are many links to relevant information about programs and public health in general. The site is available seven days a week, 24 hours a day.
Each division of the health department has its own section in which details of the services it provides are described.
– Public Health Nursing/Medical Services. The activities of the Public Health Nurses are described, along with their clinic schedules. There is also information about programs for infants and children, adolescents and parents. The tobacco cessation program is also described.
– Environmental Health. The programs for water, air and sanitation are included. Residents can also find information regarding pools and spas, underground tanks and waste disposal.
– Animal Control. The country animal shelters and veterinary services are contained here, plus information on the dog licensing program and pets to adopt.
The Web site also contains a list of frequently asked questions and their answers. Residents may also find email addresses for all the department and program directors so they can directly ask questions and get a personalized response.
