Mono County sets rabies clinic

Staff reports

All dogs over the age of 4 months must be vaccinated for rabies and wear a current dog license in Mono County, Calif., and in June, low-cost vaccination clinics are planned to help pet owners comply with this regulation.

The Mono County health department also recommends that cats be given rabies vaccinations and feline boosters on an annual basis.

The first low-cost vaccination and dog licensing clinic will be held in Walker on Saturday, June 3, 8:30 to 11:30 a.m., at the Walker Fire Hall.

Cost of a rabies vaccination is $5, and other canine and feline vaccinations will be available at a reduced rate. Mono County residents are asked to provide their yellow license receipts from the previous year.

Douglas County residents may take advantage of the vaccinations, but will have to obtain licenses in this county.

For more information or for a schedule of clinics to be held in other Mono communities, call Mono County Animal Control at (760) 932-5258.
