Model aircraft event coming up
The Sierra Sagebrush Flyers will host its 5th annual Model Aircraft Aerobatics Contest, the “Tahoe Challenge,” at the Douglas County Model Airport Facility, Saturday, July 11, and Sunday July 12.
This is an AA event sanctioned by the Academy of Model Aeronautics. Five classes will be flown: Novice (beginner), Sportsman, Advanced, Masters and FAI (International Competitor Class). Masters and FAI are the best of the best. Advanced entries show 30 plus competitors from five states.
The general public is invited to come and watch and are encouraged to ask questions. Any competitor or club member will be glad to answer. Take the youngsters – they’ll enjoy the show. Admission is free. Contest flying will be from 9 a.m. till approximately 2 p.m. each day, weather permitting. There will be barbecued chicken, hot dogs, potato salad, baked beans, all the condiments, etc., and soft drinks will be available. Food and beverages will be sold.

The field is located on Pinenut Road in Gardenerville,off Highway 395, across from the fairgrounds. Follow the signs.
