Minden is not broken and does not need fixing

I see sitting down, receiving input and discussing issues of concern are a crucial role for a Town Board Member.

I will support all efforts to preserve the “Conservative Small Town” ambiance of Minden.

I will encourage a sustainable business environment for local small businesses.

I will always support measures that will improve and sustain the quality of life Town residents enjoy.

I am a fiscal conservative and will vote intelligently on all measures coming before the Town Board.

I understand that maintaining the quality of life in Minden comes at a cost. I will support measures that are necessary to sustain and improve the quality of life here in Minden.

I am proud to call Minden my home.

Platform: I am honored to have served on the Minden Town Board nearly four years. During my term, I have attended the regular board meetings for the Gardnerville Town Board, Planning Commission, and County Commission because it’s important to me to stay current and fully informed of local and county government plans and initiatives. I read and seek confirmation of every document submitted to, or generated by, the Town. I am diligent in reviewing and seeking justification for Town expenditures. I volunteered and am serving as the Minden liaison for the Nevada League of Cities and Municipalities, and the Carson Valley Arts Council.

I have no conflicts of interest as to my employment or residence and I seek out and question experts in the fields of water and planning and rely on their input to guide my official position. I also rely on input from my neighbors and friends as we all live here and are supportive of each other. I believe the Town’s first obligation should be its current residents.

I am conservative in my views regarding development within the Township. I do not support high density development, nor do I believe the Town should be required to accept large, high density complexes to satisfy regional housing needs. I am proud to say that we have no debt, good roads, adequate storm and flood mitigation, ample and pure water, great parks and community buildings, a stable tax structure, and an exceptional staff. Minden is unique. I am working to keep it so.

Roxanne Stangle

Occupation: Businesswoman

Age: 65

Record of Service: I enjoy helping put on events which bring people to

Minden to enjoy all that we have to offer. With the help from friends, I started the Esmeralda Farmers’ Market, which is entering its 15th year in May. I have helped put on the Christmas Market held the first weekend in December.

I have sponsored craft fairs, car shows and other events in downtown Minden over the years to help spotlight our wonderful little community.

Honors: I am a third-generation Carson Valley native. I have lived in the Town of Minden for 43 years and owned my home for 41 years. I’ve worked in Minden since I was 15 years old, starting at the Town and Country store in old town Minden, which moved over to 1600 Esmeralda Avenue in 1972. The Town and Country then became Tumblewind a short time later. I purchased the business from Tom and Norma Andrews in 1987. The business changed from clothing to antiques and collectibles 23 years ago.

Platform: I have two children, Jeanine, who lives in Las Vegas and Mat, who lives in Reno, I have one grandchild, Jordan, who is the love of my life.

I love Minden and the people here and hope to continue to help in any way that I can. I am running for re-election to the town board because I feel that I am involved in our community and have more to contribute and look forward to the opportunity to serve the town and its people for four more years.
