Middle school volleyball teams split
The Pau-Wa-Lu Middle School eighth grade volleyball team extended its season record to 5-0 Thursday with a straight-set win at home against Carson Valley Middle School.
Pau-Wa-Lu won the Tah-Neva League match by scores of 25-19, 25-20.
Amanda Hone led the Panthers at the net with four kills, while Maddy Smalley had two kills. Maddy Reger and Carmen Cardenas each had one ace while Meika Cole had two.
For CVMS, Cailey Tollmann had seven service points and two assists; Jolee Godde had four digs, two points and one kill; Mayci Mariani had four points, two aces and one kill; Rachael Hollar had two digs and one point; Isabella Tomassi had one kill and one block; Falan Rose had two digs; Tess Sando had one ace; Ariana Bilderback had one dig; Kendal Moore two points; while Leah Schemenauer and Lauren Rowlatt contributed one kill each.
CVMS pulled out a closely contested match at Pau-Wa-Lu 25-23, 25-21.
Caitlyn Stephens, Chole Stein and Maddie Surane contributed six service points each for CVMS. Bailey Rozier also had three points, Ariana Giesselman, Kennedy Cole and Brooklyn Galliett two each. Katelyn Wing, Serena Tomassi and Bethany Lundberg had one point each.
For Pau-Wa-Lu, Meadow Shull had eight service points with five aces, Emma Glover had six points and Jessica James four points. Riley Mello contributed two service points (one ace), two kills and two blocks. James also had one kill for the Panthers.
