Mentors are sought for area youths
Mentors are needed for the mentoring program for area youths sponsored by the Douglas County School District and the Partnership of Community Resources, funded in part by a grant from the Smallwood Foundation.
“Volunteers are needed to serve as mentors and provide opportunities for positive adult-youth interactions,” said the Partnership’s Teens With a Future program coordinator Tish Sammon.
A volunteer training for new adult mentors is set for June 30, 6 to 8 p.m., at the Partnership’s office in Minden.
Mentors must complete a training and background check prior to being paired with a youth, Sammon said. The training on June 30 will orient participants to the mentoring program.
