Masons offer free circus trip

Staff reports

The Shrine Circus is coming to Reno in March and a group of Shriners, members of Carson Valley’s two Masonic Lodges and Masons who meet at Sharkey’s at noon on Fridays, which also includes members from Carson City lodges, have banded together, contributed to funds and arranged to take the children and chaperones of Carson Valley to the circus as their guests for the Saturday, March 6, performance at 11 a.m.

All children under the age of 12 are welcome to be their guests, as are a parent or other chaperone. All children must be accompanied by a parent or chaperone. The Shriners have arranged for buses that will leave Lampe Park at 9 a.m. and will return to Lampe Park at approximately 2:30 or 3 p.m.

Kerak Shrine has promised a separate section in a most advantageous area for the guest children, said spokesperson Gabe Hoelzel.

In order to properly plan for this excursion, it will be necessary for the lodges to receive advance reservations with this information: how many children there will be in the group and who will be the chaperone.

Reservations can be made by calling 267-2744 or 265-2831.

“Circuses are for kids and we want our Carson Valley kids to get their share of fun, and it’s all free,” Hoelzel said.
